Pawn Stars gets revolutionary for its 500th episode with a suit worn by George Washington

If you thought hitting 500 episodes might make a show old, wait until you see what Pawn Stars is unearthing in its milestone episode.

One of the show’s stars, Rick Harrison, heads to Washington, D.C., and, as you can see in the exclusive clip above, finds a suit worn by George Washington — yes, that George Washington — up for sale.

“The George Washington suit was one of the coolest things I’d ever seen – across nine years and 500 episodes of doing this show,” Harrison tells EW. “It’s just an amazing piece of history from one of the most amazing men in history.”

The suit itself had been in a collector’s possession for 21 years, and he’d purchased it in an auction in New York. Before that, the suit — which is all silk and was originally pink — was passed down for generations among Washington’s family members. Pawn Stars expert and go-to authenticator Mark Hall-Patton joins Harrison in examining the suit, which is estimated to be from the 1750s or 1760s.

The episode will also feature a set of silver spoons made by Paul Revere.

As for staying on the air for a whopping 500 episodes, Harrison is in disbelief. “When I watched the first episode of Pawn Stars back in 2009, we had a little party at my house,” he recalls. “I was so horrified at watching myself on TV, I had to go outside while everyone else watched the show — I couldn’t bear it. Who could have ever thought this would have happened, and we’d be at 500 episodes?”

The 500th episode (and the 501st) of Pawn Stars airs Monday, Jan. 22, at 10 p.m. on HISTORY.
